About Alia

How It Started
Born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana, Alia graduated from Ben Davis High School in 2009. While getting involved with the school's television program, under the instruction of Dennis Goins, she realized her passion for journalism and storytelling.
Alia went on to attend Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. In 2013, she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in both Telecommunications and Journalism. During her time at Ball State, she became heavily involved within student media groups and organizations.
Professional Journey
In November 2013, Alia started her professional journey at WTHI-TV, a CBS affiliate in Terre Haute, Indiana. She currently works at the station as a reporter and fill-in anchor.
Alia has covered a variety of stories during her time in the Wabash Valley. You can view some of her favorites in the "Packages/Clips" section of the website.
Personal Life
When not at work, Alia enjoys spending time with her family and close friends. She loves to travel, try different restaurants and recipes, shop and watch football (Go Ravens!). She is the youngest child to Pamela and David Blackburn. She is also an active member of her sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha.
